I am currently working on a collection of porcelain fine art dragon sculptures called Elemental Guardians. These one-of-a-kind dragon busts are hand-sculpted from English porcelain over many weeks, bisque fired in the kiln, glazed with Celadon glazes, glaze and luster fired and finally mounted in resin on a dark wood pedestal. Each detailed dragon is completely unique and is crafted to embody the essence of the elements—fire, water, earth, and air. The intricate detailing, from the sweeping horns to the textured scales, reflects my fascination with ancient lore and the timeless allure of dragons.
The dragon is a symbol of strength, protection and good luck. These magical creatures ward off evil spirits and protect the innocent. I’ve been fascinated by dragons since reading the Game of Thrones series while I lived and worked in Rwanda in 2011. Since then, I have been seeking out every fantasy series I can get my hands on that involves dragons, fueling my love and interest in these mythical creatures. I enjoy creating a creature as mighty and powerful as the dragon in porcelain, a material that is considered to be delicate and fragile. This collection is a tribute to the mysterious forces that shape our world, bringing to life the majestic, otherworldly presence of dragons in a form that is both powerful and elegant.
